Rapid Prototyping – Streamlining the Iterative Design Process

Offering complete injection mold tooling design and manufacturing services, Inventex is uniquely positioned to tackle your medical device prototyping project from start to finish. We will streamline the tooling development process, build and modify the prototype molds as needed, then transition your project seamlessly into production molding.

In production molding applications, we design the mold to be extremely durable such that it exceeds your volume requirements without degrading in quality. Our production molds are therefore machined from high-strength tool steels and specially hardened alloys. The toughness of the materials makes producing precision molds a laborious, costly, and time-consuming task. However, the end result is that the tooling stands up to the stresses of producing thousands, or even tens of thousands of injection molded plastic parts.

In contrast, our prototype injection molds are not required to produce nearly as many parts. A shorter service life generally means softer, easier-to-machine metals can be used – such as aluminum or P-20 tool steel. These alloys are much easier to machine and polish, thus more economical for low-volume runs. Faster production also means we can more readily meet our customers’ rapid prototyping requirements – a common need throughout today’s medical manufacturing industry.
